This revision provides foreign professionals with a quicker and more straightforward route to employment in the UK, as the government aims to tackle pressing labor shortages in critical industries.
Effective from July 22, 2025, the changes include an expanded Temporary Shortage Occupation List (TSOL) and notably reduced salary thresholds for eligible workers across various sectors.
The updated list spans fields like engineering, construction, IT, creative arts, finance, healthcare, and science, reflecting the government’s efforts to alleviate growing labor gaps in these areas.
Previously categorized below the high-skilled visa tier, these roles can now be filled more efficiently by international applicants due to relaxed salary criteria and simplified visa processes.

Document Required For Skilled Worker Visa Occupation
To apply for a Skilled Laborer Visa within the UK, candidates must meet certain criteria, including:
- Your certificate of sponsorship reference number – your employer will give you this
- Proof of your knowledge of English
- A valid passport or other document that shows your identity and nationality
- Your job title and annual salary
- Your job’s occupation code
- The name of your employer and their sponsor licence number – this will be on your certificate of sponsorship
