Senior People Partner – Product & Functions

Specifications:

Description:

  • Your leadership will directly shape how we build, retain and grow the engineering talent powering our mission.
  • We’ve now reached 10 million customers and unlocked $2+ billion in credit across five African markets.
  • This role sits right at the centre of the machine that makes that growth possible.

The Opportunity

  • Mission-driven HR: Partner with product, design and digital lending leaders building the customer experience for millions, plus our fraud, workplaces, impact and corporate communications and marketing teams
  • Global recognition: Join a company named by TIME 100 as one of the world’s most influential, and by the Financial Times as Africa’s fastest-growing company for 5 consecutive years (2022–2026)
  • Scale challenges: Build credibility across a genuinely varied portfolio — creative and iterative teams like product and design sit alongside operational, market-specific, high-stakes teams like fraud and workplaces
  • Environmental impact: Work for a carbon-negative company that has displaced over 2 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions

  • It’s a portfolio with unusual variety — succeeding here means switching register comfortably and building credibility with very different kinds of leaders, from a design team to a fraud operations team in the same day.

Day to day, you’ll:

  • Support org design and change: contribute to team transformations, workforce planning and structural change across your client groups
  • Build capability in managers: develop the people management standard across your portfolio, from performance conversations to hiring and development
  • Scale and retain talent: implement approaches to attract, develop and retain product, design and analytics talent in a competitive market

  • Own employee relations: manage cases across your portfolio, working with our ER Centre of Excellence on the complex end

  • Confident handling employee relations matters across more than one jurisdiction, partnering with an ER Centre of Excellence rather than carrying every case alone (Europe/UK exposure is a plus, not a requirement).

Benefits:

  • Reports to the Lead People Partner, Technology
  • Room to grow your own scope, with mentorship from a senior partner who owns the wider technology and product portfolio
  • Professional development and coaching partnerships

Lead People Partner – Technology

Specifications:

Description:

  • Your leadership will directly shape how we build, retain and grow the engineering talent powering our mission.
  • We’ve now reached 10 million customers and unlocked $2+ billion in credit across five African markets.
  • This role sits right at the centre of the machine that makes that growth possible.

The Opportunity

  • Mission-driven HR: Partner directly with our CTO and their leadership team across Engineering, Data, Analytics, IT and Security — work that translates straight into digital and financial access for everyday earners
  • Global recognition: Join a company named by TIME 100 as one of the world’s most influential, and by the Financial Times as Africa’s fastest-growing company for 5 consecutive years (2022–2026)
  • Scale challenges: Design the org structure for a globally distributed, senior engineering population spread across Africa, Europe and the UK — scaling and reshaping at the same time
  • Environmental impact: Work for a carbon-negative company that has displaced over 2 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions.

What You’ll Do

  • You’ll be a trusted advisor to our product, design and digital lending leaders, aligning people strategy to product delivery and team evolution, while also owning the people agenda for fraud, workplaces, impact and corporate communications and marketing across multiple markets and operating models.
  • It’s a portfolio with unusual variety — succeeding here means switching register comfortably and building credibility with very different kinds of leaders, from a design team to a fraud operations team in the same day.

Day to day, you’ll:

  • Lead org design: workforce planning, levelling and team transformation in a function scaling and reshaping simultaneously
  • Own Engineering and Product end to end: full accountability for people partnering across both, with a Senior People Partner reporting to you
  • Lead and grow a partner: coach, develop and set direction for your direct report, building the partnering standard for the whole technology portfolio
  • Use people analytics to inform action: partner with Centres of Excellence to turn data into decisions on capability, attrition and cost
  • Drive distributed team effectiveness: optimise performance, engagement and team dynamics in a fast-paced, asynchronous, multi-country environment
  • Handle complex employee relations: own the senior and sensitive end of the ER caseload for your portfolio.

Qualifications and Requirements:

We’re looking for someone who has partnered closely with engineering, data or platform leadership in a scaling technology or fintech business, and genuinely understands how those functions work.

Required Experience:

  • Senior HR experience partnering with engineering organisations in a scaling technology or fintech business
  • Experience leading or formally coaching HR business partners, with the ability to raise the standard of someone else’s work
  • Proven org design depth: you’ve led real structural change (levelling, spans and layers, function redesign), not just supported it
  • Strategic and operational range: equally comfortable designing long-term org strategy and working at team level
  • Remote and global savvy: experience supporting cross-cultural teams across multiple regions
  • Strong business acumen: able to translate between people priorities and business outcomes at leadership level
  • Comfortable operating with autonomy at C-level
  • Employee relations judgement across more than one jurisdiction, knowing when to own it and when to bring in specialists (UK/Europe employment law exposure is useful given where much of the engineering population sits, but not essential — we have an ER Centre of Excellence for statutory depth)

Benefits:

  • Fully Remote role – Can be Based in the UK, Nigeria or specific locations across Europe
  • Reports to the People Director
  • Professional development and coaching partnerships
  • Family-friendly policies and flexible working arrangements
  • Well-being support and career growth opportunities
  • Direct exposure to our CTO and CPO, with real influence over leadership-level people decisions

Software Engineering Team Lead

Description:

At M-KOPA, you’ll lead a team of backend engineers through both greenfield and legacy projects, owning the full software lifecycle from design ideation through to production and eventual decommissioning. Our engineering teams work under a true DevOps culture — with infrastructure as code, observability, automated testing, and continuous delivery treated as first-order concerns, not afterthoughts.

You’ll set architectural direction, partner closely with your Product Manager counterpart on roadmap planning and prioritisation, and serve as a servant leader who grows the people around you while shipping high-quality, impactful software.

Technical Environment

  • Languages & frameworks: C#/.NET
  • Cloud: We work in Azure, and welcome experience across AWS or GCP
  • Architecture: Event-driven systems and microservice development – we use Azure Service Bus, and welcome experience with similar messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
  • Infrastructure: Kubernetes, Docker
  • Observability: Prometheus, Grafana
  • Engineering culture: DevOps, infrastructure as code, automated testing across all environments including production, continuous delivery

Our Engineering Approach

  • Full ownership: Teams own their solutions end-to-end – from inception through production support to decommissioning.
  • Servant leadership: We lead by coaching and enabling, not directing.
  • Quality by default: Observability, monitoring, and automated testing are built in from day one.
  • Continuous improvement: We foster a culture of innovation within a supportive, dynamic team environment.
  • Product partnership: Engineering and Product work as genuine counterparts — planning together, prioritising together, delivering together.

Requirements & Qualifications

We’re looking for an experienced, low-ego engineering leader who brings both technical depth and a genuine passion for growing people.

Required Experience:

  • Strong hands-on background in C#/.NET backend development
  • Proven experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP – we work in Azure but welcome experience across major cloud providers
  • Solid understanding of event-driven architecture and microservice development – we use Azure Service Bus, and welcome experience with similar messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to set technical direction and provide architectural guidance
  • Comfortable working with Product to shape roadmaps and drive delivery

Benefits:

  • Fully remote role within UTC -1 to UTC +3 time zones
  • Work with diverse teams across UK, Europe, and Africa
  • Professional development programmes and coaching partnerships
  • Family-friendly policies and flexible working arrangements
  • Well-being support and career growth opportunities

Senior CRM Manager – Lifecycle & Retention

Specifications:

Description:

You’ll own lifecycle CRM strategy and execution end to end. Build automated customer journeys in CleverTap, run experiments on messaging and timing, analyse retention and repayment cohorts, and scale successful programmes across markets. Partner with Product, Commercial, and Operations teams to turn customer behaviour into retention and growth opportunities.

Your Core Responsibilities

  • Build and scale multi-channel lifecycle programmes: design onboarding, retention, churn prevention, and upsell journeys across SMS, WhatsApp, push, and in-app messaging
  • Design behavioural trigger-based upsell systems: move customers from entry products (smartphones/e-bikes) to higher-value bundles (digital loans, insurance, device protection) based on payment behaviour and engagement signals
  • Run rigorous experiments: A/B test messaging, timing, incentives, and offers with clear hypotheses and statistical rigour, then turn wins into repeatable playbooks
  • Own retention economics: track and optimise LTV, cohort retention, renewal rates, and upsell performance, translating insights into action
  • Scale what works across markets: turn successful experiments into documented frameworks that enable teams to execute retention initiatives across 4 African markets

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 6+ years building and scaling CRM or lifecycle marketing, ideally in businesses where daily or weekly customer engagement drives retention and revenue.
  • You’ve built CRM systems, not just optimised them, whether migrating platforms (Mailchimp → Braze), designing journey architecture from scratch, or scaling programmes across markets.
  • You’re hands-on in CRM platforms daily, personally building journeys in tools like Braze, CleverTap, MoEngage, Customer.io, or Iterable.
  • You think in business outcomes, your achievements mention LTV growth, retention revenue, upsell rates, renewal improvements, not just open rates or engagement metrics.
  • You run rigorous experiments, designing tests with clear hypotheses, control groups, and measurable success criteria.
  • You bring fresh eyes to lifecycle marketing, someone who’s introduced gamification, loyalty programmes, streaks, badges, or other non-obvious engagement mechanics into a retention strategy, and can talk about what worked, what didn’t, and why.
  • Relevant backgrounds we’re interested in: MVNO experience, super-apps with daily engagement models, mobile gaming with daily retention mechanics, prepaid subscription services, or B2C fintech/subscription businesses where high-frequency engagement drives the model.
  • Bonus, not required: exposure to performance or paid marketing (paid social, paid search, app install campaigns), and a point of view on how acquisition spend and targeting could connect to retention outcomes. This isn’t something you’d own, we’re just genuinely interested in how you think about it.

Benefits:

  • Fully remote role within UTC -1 to UTC +3 time zones
  • Work with diverse teams across UK, Europe, and Africa
  • Professional development programmes and coaching partnerships
  • Family-friendly policies and flexible working arrangements
  • Well-being support and career growth opportunities
