The European Union (EU) is a unique supranational political and economic union of 27 member states located primarily in Europe. Established in its current form by the Maastricht Treaty in 1993, it operates through a system of independent institutions that make decisions on everything from trade and climate policy to security and human rights.
Working within EU institutions such as the European Commission or the European Parliament, the benefits are considered among the most comprehensive in the public sector. Staff members, often recruited through the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO), enjoy competitive, tax-advantaged salaries and a robust multicultural environment that brings together professionals from across the continent.
