Shift Engineer, Power Plant – Ibese

Description:

Supervise shift operations of assigned area of Power Plant to ensure efficient running of operations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• To look after the shift operations of assigned area of Power Plant efficiently.
• Monitoring & Control of Parameters for all the equipment in the assigned area.
• Recording of all the operating parameters and maintaining records of respective area.
• Proper Handling of emergencies in respective assigned area.
• Independently handling the power plant control room operation.
• Independently handling the operation and control of DCS.
• To manage process and service units startups and shutdowns competently without affecting units that are to remain online.
• To assist the shift manager for handling emergencies
• To look after the shift operations of assigned area efficiently and effectively to avoid stoppage/trip of plant equipment due to human error.
• Independently handling the operation of BOP area.
• To ensure housekeeping of the assigned area.
• Preparation of SOP containing system description, logics & interlocks/operating procedures on the assigned area and presenting the SOP for in-house training program.
• Updating and maintaining the records of each activity and maintenance history of the assigned area and updating the important parameters in control room PC for analysis.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering with Power option, or its equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• A minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience in gas based power plant with minimum of Two (2) year experience in Control room.

The primary function of this role is to be responsible for directing or performing all activities related to maintaining a successful hybrid (on-premises and Azure Cloud) database environment and will also make sure the organisation’s databases and its related applications operate functionally and efficiently.

Job Responsibilities

• Software installation and Maintenance: Collaborates on the initial installation and configuration of new MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQL Server instances and databases, which includes and not limited to, upgrades, service packs and security patches installations.
• Database High Availability, Backup and Recovery: Create backup and recovery plans and procedures based on industry best practices and the business policies, then make sure that the necessary steps are followed, as well as ensure the highest availability for database instances.
• Security: Conversant with potential weaknesses of the database software installed, with the ability to liaise with the security team to remediate.
• Authentication: Setting up Role-based Access Control (RBAC) to the respective databases and instances as applicable.
• Capacity Planning: Use industry-standard tools to forecast database resource utilisation as required in a bid to scale as required.
• Performance and Database Tuning: Daily monitoring of databases for performance issues is part of the ongoing system maintenance, where the database should be tweaked to operate as efficiently as possible.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Job Summary

The Senior Mechanical Engineer – Kiln at Dangote Cement Plc is responsible for ensuring that kiln maintenance are carred out properly and safely as pe the requirement of the plant.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the Maintenance of the Kilns & Coal Mill equipment towards achievement of the set targets.
• Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities, opening and closing of SAP Notifications, Orders, Requests as when due.
• Plan and execute the Scheduled maintenance activities towards improving the uptime of the equipment.
• Ensures stores and spares planning, raising of requirement in advance considering a lead time of minimum 12 months and following up for the spares.
• Ensures that the Inventory in General Stores with respect to the spares of Kiln section is at the minimum level.
• Ensures that safe Work procedures & regular House Keeping are followed in all the activities in the section towards the achievement of Zero Accident.
• Evaluation of the subordinates and keep them informed of their strengths and the areas where development is required, also evaluate their training needs.
• Ensures in-house training of junior staff towards improving their knowledge as well as technical skills.
• Undertake improvement Jobs in the section that will improve the productivity/reliability, minimize breakdown and the working environment of the department.
• Ensure that all the daily activities and documentation meet all Statutory requirements and ISO Standards. 

Requirements

Education and Work Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of nine (9) years of experience

Skills and Competencies

• Proven working experience in mechanical engineering
• Working experience with product lifecycle management (PLM), finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
• Hands-on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAM) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAE)
• Familiarity with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ProE or other)
• Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, ProMechanica or similar)
• Mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge (Matlab, Excel, LabView etc)
• Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science etc.
• Creativity and analytical skills
• Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
• Technical writing skills

The Crusher Mechanical Technician at Dangote Cement Plc is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations and maintenance of crusher systems and associated equipment by executing inspections, troubleshooting breakdowns, and maintaining high safety and performance standards.

Key Duties and responsibilities

• Carry out routine inspection of Impact crushers / roller crushers, belt conveyors, chain conveyors, apron feeders, Gearboxes, motors, pulleys, idlers, and couplings.
• Identify abnormalities like vibration, noise, misalignment, overheating.
• Ensure timely preventive and predictive maintenance.
• Maintain inspection records and checklists.
• Attend to equipment breakdowns promptly and ensure minimum downtime.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring failures.
• Coordinate with stores for spare parts and ensure availability.
• Prepare breakdown reports and recommend improvements.
• Perform laser alignment of Motor-gearbox assemblies, Couplings and drive systems.
• Ensure proper alignment to avoid vibration and premature failures.
• Carry out balancing and precision checks where required.
• Ensure strict compliance with safety procedures and company policies.
• Conduct toolbox talks before maintenance jobs.
• Implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Plan and execute shutdown activities efficiently.

Requirements

• Trade Test or OND in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of Five (5) years of relevant working experience as a Crusher Mechanical Technician.
• Strong knowledge of crusher systems and material handling equipment.
• Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Experience in laser alignment, hydraulic  system and maintenance tools.
• Leadership and team management ability.
• Knowledge of safety standards and procedures.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office / maintenance systems).
